My House
“Thanks for stopping by.”

Welcome to our new home! We've been working really hard to put the finishing touches on the house, we hope you will join us soon for our housewarming party… to be announced. If you didn't have a chance to see the house when it was a work in progress, we have posted a few pics for your viewing enjoyment.

When we first purchased the house, we planned on only doing the bare necessities; replace the carpet, paint, and replace the garage door. After more than seven months we have done a complete remodel.

We started with the walls. They had a lot of damage and needed to be patched and sanded and sanded some more. Most of the time spent on the house was prep work. We decided to remove the acustic off the ceilings. It came off fairly easy, but patching it and smoothing it out took a lot of time. Another big undertaking was replacing all the single pane windows with double pane windows.

The kitchen is one of my favorite rooms in the house. As you can see from the before pictures, the kitchen was very dark. We added several recessed lights, as well as a skylight with a fan. We added cabinets to extend the kitchen and moved and replaced the patio door to make room for a breakfast bar. Afer removing the linolium, it was replaced with twelve inch tiles and the countertops were replaced with new tile as well. The cabinet doors and drawers were replaced with new faces and we stripped the bases of the cabinets. We decided on white wash for the stain and topped it with a semi-gloss. We finished off the kitchen with oak crown molding, as well as new window sills, and oak baseboards.

We also replaced the tile and mirrors in the bathrooms, tore out the shower in the master bath and replaced it with a tub. We added window sills to all the windows, added recessed lighting to the entire house, wired the house for dsl and a new alarm system, repaired the filtered water system, replaced the carpet, painted the inside and outside, tore out the tile in the front entry and replaced it and the slate on the fireplace with marble. We also added tile to the outside front entry, as well as countless other tiny details throughout the past year.

We look forward to sharing many new experiences here in our new home with friends and family and creating more wonderful memories to look back on. Enjoy our online tour and we hope to see you in person very soon!

I will be posting before and after pictures for everyone to see ASAP.
